Jubilee Lifelong Learning Series

ANNOUNCING THE “JUBILEE LIFELONG LEARNING SERIES”, A PART OF THE CBH 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The shared history between the founding of Bet Haverim & the UC Davis campus is undeniable – - many of our founding families came to Davis in the 1950s & 1960s to serve as professors and in other faculty & staff positions at the growing university. In recognition of our 50th anniversary, Bet Haverim celebrates this important connection with a series of speaking engagements by members of the UC Davis faculty, & other noted presenters:

Dr. David Biale, chair of the UC Davis History Department, makes a presentation to approximately 35 CBH partners & community members on “Hasidism” in January 2012, to open the Jublilee Lifelong Learning Series.

  • Thursday, May 24, 7:00 p.m. – Dr. Aziza Khazzoom on “Wither ethnic difference?  Similarities in the Immigration Experiences of Polish and Iraqi Olim of the 1950s”. Dr. Khazzoom is an Israeli sociologist currently serving as the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Visiting Israeli Professor for the 2012 academic year at UC Davis.
  • Sunday, October 21, 3:00 p.m., Social Hall – “Jews of the West”, presented by Dr. Moshe Dollinger.  Dr. Dollinger is the Richard & Rhoda Goldman Chair in Jewish Studies & Social Responsibility at San Francisco State University.
  • Sunday, January 27, 2013, 3:00 p.m., Social Hall “How the Bible Influenced American Political Ideals”, by CBH Partner Ed Rabin.  Ed is a Professor Emeritus, UC Davis School of Law.
