Overview: Encouraging Lifelong Jewish Learning

No matter your place within the Jewish life cycle – even if you or your family are just curious about Judaism – exploration and study are available at Bet Haverim.

Under the direction of Malka Sansani, Director of Education and Youth (in partnership with our clergy) and Preschool Director Rhoda Rhonstock, education thrives as a core value at Bet Haverim. The synagogue’s mission to serve as an educational resource to the local Jewish community is realized and extended by other inspirational leaders, staff and knowledgeable volunteers.

Educational Opportunities

Gan Haverim Preschool
Partial and full-day programs for children 2 years to Kindergarten-ready.

Religious School
Sunday morning ritual and cultural instruction for age 3 through 7th grade, early Fall through May. A prerequisite before Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Enrollment requires synagogue membership.

Hebrew School
Instruction in Hebrew as read in prayers and other ritual. This after-school program meets once weekly for four years prior to Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Participation is recommended beginning in 3rd grade. Enrollment requires synagogue membership.

B’nai Mitzvah Preparation
Intensive study with Rabbi Wolfe over a period of months for teens and up to two years for adult B’nai Mitzah candidates. Tutors also assist with Torah and Haftorah readiness.

Confirmation
Continued Jewish education and social interaction for 10th grade students. Many also attend the Keshet program, a Wednesday evening continued Jewish education and Confirmation program for 8th through 10th graders at CBH.

Adult Education
A myriad of programs year-round for adult learnings who are new to Judaism, Jews who are looking to deepen understanding and connection to traditional and contemporary concepts, those interested in Kabbalah and spirituality and those seeking cultural interaction with other Jewish adults.

CBH Library
The CBH library is now organized and ready for browsing. A list of books and other materials from that database is available online. Come in and browse and borrow books as needed. If you have other library/information needs or interests please let the Library Committee know by writing to Ken Firestein at kenfirestein@yahoo.com. Books may be borrowed for one month and you may access to the library during office hours. Information regarding borrowing books is posted in the library, along with additional library information.
